Outpatient addiction treatment services are an important part of a comprehensive substance abuse treatment episode. Outpatient treatment is ideal for an individual stepping down from inpatient or residential care, or for individuals whose addictions have not yet progressed to the point where 24/7 medical monitoring is needed.
Addiction can be complicated because of ambivalence. On one hand, a person wants to stop using drugs and/or alcohol but on the other hand (and at the same time) the person wants to keep using. This is very common and is characteristic of the disease of addiction. Usually, patients don’t see this until it’s pointed out to them, at which point a tremendous amount of growth becomes possible.
Experienced clinicians utilizing best practices will facilitate a form of therapy called Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) for the first several sessions to identify and overcome any ambivalence. Patients who successfully work thru this stage of therapy report a stronger desire to overcome addiction and increased motivation.
If you are wanting to do something about your addiction, there are more options for substance abuse treatment than ever before. The field of addiction treatment has never been as well funded or researched as it now. There have evolved a set of best practices supported by 70+ years of research and direct patient care in clinical settings.
There are a lot of treatment options for drug or alcohol addiction, and some are better than others based on the circumstances and severity of your drug or alcohol use. Just stopping drugs or alcohol can cause symptoms of withdrawal and even medical issues, so it is a good idea to work with a physician during this process. We provide a safe, confidential, and comfortable medical detox program to help ease your withdrawal process. We have helped many clients with substance abuse disorders and Wellness Center New Jersey can help you too.
What is an Outpatient Detox Program?
A drug & alcohol outpatient detox means that you visit our facilities several times over the course of a few weeks, but that you don’t stay with us – you stay at home. We work with you to schedule your outpatient sessions around your normal routine. One thing to consider is how well you think you’ll do on your own – if you don’t believe that you have the ability to say no when you’re on your own, our outpatient program might not be for you.
Structure Of Outpatient Services
Outpatient treatment services for drug and alcohol addiction are structured to provide maximum freedom to the client within a supportive structure. Generally, clients will receive services for 3-9 hours per week depending on their particular treatment episode. For example, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a higher level of care with more clinical hours than our Outpatient (OP) level of care. During those hours clients will receive individual therapy, group counseling, and case management services.
